Girl Scouts of the USA
Member
August 2003 – May 2010
Upon entering middle school, I became a member of Girl Scouts, and during my time as a scout, I was given many opportunities to improve myself as a leader and as a young woman. My troop was very active in the community, hosting various fundraisers and events for younger scouts. We used our profits to spend two weeks at the Girl Scout World Center – “Our Chalet” in Adelboden, Switzerland. While there, we learned about the Swiss culture, took part in adventure sports and leadership activities, and bonded with scouts from across North America.
CFP Student Council
2007 – 2009
After serving as a freshman representative on my school’s student council, I was elected president during my sophomore year. As president, I was responsible for hosting elections, planning and leading meetings, overseeing activities and fundraisers, and maintaining fairness and democracy. I spearheaded several events including a Valentine’s Day candy gram fundraiser and a Thanksgiving food drive. My role as student council president was my first real leadership role, and it gave me the perfect opportunity to express my ideas and creativity.
LeadAmerica Youth Leadership Programs
June 2009
In the Summer preceding my senior year of high school, I spent two weeks at Pace University in NYC as part of a Global Business and Entrepreneurship Conference hosted by LeadAmerica. During the conference, I attended various seminars about the different aspects of business, served as a member of a student business team, and helped develop a product and business model that was later pitched to the leadership staff and other student participants. In addition, I was given the opportunity to visit some of New York City’s business landmarks including the Federal Reserve Bank and Fox Business News Headquarters.
